Facebook is a godsend to ballers worldwide, especially those who otherwise may not have the opportunity to connect with coaches, GMs etc. – the guys that pretty much determine who they do and do not sign.
Yes – they literally decide whether they give you that opportunity to put food on the table back home, whilst doing the thing you love most.
The issue? Basketball overseas is no new thing – many teams have already had an American/Import before and they know the benefit that they bring. High skillsets and almost guaranteed top performers.
What they also know is that there are MUCH MORE Americans looking for jobs in basketball overseas than there are spots…
THEY HAVE OPTIONS, SO THEY HAVE THE POWER.
There is power in options – Imagine LeBron James announcing his free agency, every team that can bid WILL. Now think about the kid that nobody knows about that got drafted 60th in a draft (not including Isaiah Thomas lol). He may well be released and people will be like – who was that anyway?
